Starface Glow Stars: Fun and Effective Acne Patches

If you were like me as a kid, you were obsessed with those glow-in-the-dark plastic stars that covered the ceiling of your childhood bedroom. Now you can take that childhood nostalgia and put it on your face, with the new glow-in-the-dark Glow Stars from pimple patch brand Starface.

Launched last year, Starface brings some much-needed fun to acne treatments with their star-shaped, Instagram-friendly pimple patches. Vegan and Leaping Bunny certified, the hydrocolloid patches work by drawing out pimple pus, blocking outside bacteria, and preventing picking and popping.

The Inspiration Behind Glow Stars

“Glow Star is inspired by bioluminescence (glow in the dark sea creatures) and the plastic stars we stuck on our childhood bedroom ceilings,” Starface founder Julie Schott tells us. “Glow stars are just as fun under the covers as they are at a concert, and we want them to make people feel like the brightest star in the sky.”

Starface: Making Acne Treatment Fun

Since its launch in 2019, Starface has turned the task of banishing a blemish into an art form. The company, founded by former ELLE.com beauty director Julie Schott, is all about making skin care fun and colorful, and its latest product launch is no exception. After finding a way to turn pimple patches into stars, Starface has unveiled glow-in-the-dark pimple patches, called Glow Stars, that will turn your face into a mini-constellation.

Product Details and How They Work

Retailing for $18, Glow Stars are packaged in sets of 32, and feature the same acne-fighting ingredients as Starface's debut Hydro Star product. For those new to the world of Starface, the Glow Stars can also be purchased with a Big Yellow pod ($34), an adorable smiling box made to hold your patches.

To get the most glow, you need only hold a patch under direct light for at least one minute. From there, you can slap that sticker on and let it get to work. The stars are filled with hydrocolloid, which is a proven ingredient in fighting acne. As Starface explained in an accompanying press release, hydrocolloid speeds up the zit healing process by:

  • Drawing out pimple pus
  • Blocking outside bacteria
  • Preventing you from poking, picking, or popping that pimple

Certified for all skin types, the stars are intended to be worn overnight, or at least six hours.

Launching today, Glow Stars are a limited-edition refill of the brand’s Big Yellow pod and will be available at starface.world for £16.
