"We are doing just about anything we can to relive our childhood dreams now that we are grown ups," added Kevin, highlighting a theme of nostalgia and playful self-indulgence that permeates their work.

On their latest album, the duo delved deeper into sampling as a core production technique. John Shields commented on the creative possibilities this opened up: "It opens up a brand new creativity when you’re writing a song." He described repurposing sounds and chord progressions as "a really fun, fresh approach to trying to write." However, he also noted the practical challenges, stating, "It was not cheap on a lot of these to get these samples cleared."
Inspiration from Everyday Life
The duo finds inspiration in their surroundings. Kevin mentioned his ability to draw from ambient events: "If I hear some commotion happen, I can go down the hall and see what’s popping off." This observational approach directly influenced their songwriting, as exemplified by one of the tracks on the album: "One of the songs on the album is a perfect example of that, it’s called ‘I’m Fine,’" Kevin said.
Growth and the Music Industry Landscape
Little Stranger acknowledges the expanding reach of their music. "It’s clear our fanbase is growing," John Shields observed. Reflecting on the broader music industry, he described it as "the wild west and nothing is going to be handed to you," emphasizing the importance of appreciating small victories. He also expressed a newfound understanding of the dedication required, admitting, "My 22-year-old self had no idea how hard you have to work."
