Specialized Clinics and Treatments
Northwestern Medicine Dermatology offers specialized clinics to address complex skin issues:
TARGET Clinic
TARGET (Treatment of Adverse Reactions and GVHD Effects of Cancer) evaluates and treats skin affected by cancer and its treatments. This includes managing complications from bone marrow transplants and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
Tattoo Complications Clinic
While most tattoos do not cause complications, our clinic can assist individuals experiencing issues related to their tattoos.
Genital Mucous Membrane Disorders Clinic
This clinic provides specialized care for disorders affecting the genital mucous membranes, with both dermatologists and gynecologists collaborating to ensure comprehensive understanding and treatment.
Advanced Therapies
We utilize advanced treatment modalities to address a range of conditions:
- Phototherapy with narrow band-UVB and UVA lights
- Excimer laser treatments

Addressing Unique Patient Needs
We recognize that certain skin concerns disproportionately affect specific populations. For example, people of color are at a higher risk for issues related to the unique properties of their hair, skin, and nails.
Furthermore, men are often less likely to seek medical care for skin diseases and are at a higher risk for melanoma. Our department is committed to providing leading-edge skin care to all patients, encouraging proactive health management.
