Happy Thursday, everyone! Can you believe it’s August already? Summer is flying by like crazy. Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time going swimming while rocking a pretty cool waterproof mascara by Maybelline. It’s called The Falsies Push Up Angel, and it’s pretty amazing with its waterproof capabilities. This means that I can feel free to jump in the pool, cry if I want to, and sweat without worrying about my makeup running.

The mascara was introduced to me in my beauty swag from Beautycon NYC. I can say that I think this is a great mascara for the simple fact that I have naturally short eyelashes, and the tiny comb wand is designed to separate the lashes, keeping it from clumping. I must say that the wand really grabs and coats my tiny eyelashes very well. I was also impressed on how long and thick the mascara made my eyelashes. If you have short eyelashes like me, then this mascara is so perfect for you. I’m not too sure how this mascara would do with someone with long eyelashes.
Another thing I have noticed is that it lasts pretty long throughout the majority of the day. Some mascaras I always had to reapply, but not this one. I work the traditional 9 to 5, so I never once had to reapply the mascara within that time frame since I started using it. Overall, this is a pretty good mascara find, and I would highly recommend trying it out to see the amazing results. As I stated before, be mindful if your eyelashes are longer because this may not work so well.
Product Details and Claims
Where I got it: I got this from my local Kmart for $25.
What I got: This is the Maybelline Falsies Push-Up Angel Waterproof Mascara. It features the 1st Push-Up brush with cup-shaped bristles that boost and thicken lashes from Maybelline New York. The patented cup-shaped bristles scoop lashes from the roots, coating and lifting them up into a dramatic 45-degree angle. The creamy plumping formula is enriched with styling wax to hold the dramatic volume.

Personal Experience and Application
This mascara was recommended to me by a friend who is also Asian and has straight, sparse, and short lashes like me. She said that it holds the curl for the entire day and is lengthening and separating as well. So, I gave it a go, and I went and got myself a waterproof version. Throughout the years, I have tried countless mascaras that claim to be waterproof and smudge-proof, etc., and most of them do run or migrate to the undereye area, maybe because of my hooded eyes or my oily skin, or the fact that my lashes don’t hold curls. The only mascaras that do not smudge or run are those “tube mascaras” like Blinc and some other Japanese brands.
To use this mascara, I curl my lashes as usual, then I apply the mascara from the root to tip. I love the wand because it is slim and “cups” my lashes. My lashes are able to sit close to the wand, allowing the formula to coat it evenly. The wand picks up the right amount of product and is not messy at all.
Pros and Cons
Cons:
- It is not really waterproof, as it did smudge and run to my undereye area after about 3 hours of wear.
Pros:
- I love the mascara wand! It is easy to use, easy to control, and gets right into the root of the lashes.
- It also separates lashes perfectly.
- I would probably save the wand after the mascara is finished and use it as a lash comb.
I think I could make the mascara work by dusting a bit of loose powder on top to kind of set it and possibly powder and touch-up my undereye area to avoid the oil on my skin to melt the mascara.

"Fab or Flub" Review Summary
The start of the new year brings the promise of new beauty products to try. In this week’s “Fab or Flub” review, we’re taking a look at the new mascara by drugstore brand Maybelline. Maybelline’s The Falsies Push Up Angel mascara ($7.49 at Target) is designed to create long, flirty eyelashes with only a few swipes of the product. Promising a similar look as hard-to-apply false lashes, the budget-friendly mascara uses a specially designed wand to lift, plump, and extend lashes from the root for a glamorous effect.
First Impression: Formula and Wand Design
When buying a mascara, there are always two important factors you should consider. The first is the product’s formula, which can be wet or dry and waterproof or non-waterproof. The other factor (and most important detail) is the design of the mascara’s wand. While most mascara formulas are arguably the same, it’s the wand that is often the game-changer in determining what kind of eyelashes you end up with. While the short bristles add volume and lift, the long bristles are made to stretch the eyelashes farther for maximum length.
Fab or Flub?
Fab! A budget-friendly way to get a falsie-like look, Maybelline’s The Falsies Push Up Angel mascara helps eyelashes soar to new heights with just a few swipes. The brush works with precision to lift, separate, extend, and coat every lash, adding an impressive amount of length to natural eyelashes. Despite having a wet formula, the mascara does not clump, smudge, or flake off throughout the day and can be taken off easily with makeup removing wipes. It is important to note that The Falsies Push Up Angel mascara does excel better at lengthening lashes than volumizing them.
