As much as I enjoy discovering new brands, there's a special kind of joy in revisiting and trialling products from a brand that has been a trusted companion for years. It's akin to receiving updates from an old, dear friend. Palmer's is undoubtedly a household name, recognized by many. However, what might be news to some is the recent expansion of their skincare line to include a cleansing oil and a facial oil, and I'm eager to share my experiences with them.
Palmer's Cleansing Oil: A Revitalized Formula
It appears Palmer's may have offered a cleansing oil a few years ago, and this current product might be a reincarnation of that formula. While I didn't have the opportunity to try the original, my review of the current offering is, much like my skin, glowing.

Retailing at $19.99, this cleansing oil comes in a clear plastic bottle containing 190 ml of product. It is designed to gently yet deeply cleanse the skin, effectively dissolving dirt, oil, and makeup without stripping the skin's natural moisture. The pump mechanism is efficient, and I find that two pumps provide a sufficient amount of product for a thorough cleanse.
I found this cleansing oil to be absolutely amazing. Considering the price point and the generous volume of product, it stands out as a truly great value. Not only is it budget-friendly, but it also performs exceptionally well. I've tested it against mascara, eyeliner, and various other makeup products, and it consistently removes everything. Any remaining traces are usually due to my own efforts to avoid getting the oil into my contact lenses. It's remarkable how little residue is left on my face after using this oil.
The formula is enriched with grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, vitamin C, and cocoa butter, all working together to brighten and nourish the skin.
Palmer's Facial Oil: Nourishing and Restorative
The facial oil is priced at approximately $25 for a 30 ml bottle. It is packed with a blend of oils formulated to help restore the skin to its optimal condition.

This facial oil boasts a comprehensive list of ingredients, including rosehip, argan, sweet almond, coconut, macadamia nut, apricot, grapeseed, sesame, camelina, and sunflower oils. Additionally, it contains cocoa butter, retinol, and vitamin C. This potent combination is intended to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, address dark spots, and even out skin tone, while combating signs of aging.
A key component is the Cetesomate-E Complex, which is purported to aid in the delivery of vitamins and nutrients deep into the skin. I found this to be a delightful oil, not excessively greasy. It dries down over time, leaving my skin feeling comfortable rather than oily, and it integrates seamlessly with other skincare products in my routine.
My skin has responded positively to this facial oil, appearing more hydrated, especially during periods of dry, windy weather. It looks brighter and maintains a smooth texture. The product is housed in an unassuming amber dropper bottle, which might not immediately suggest its efficacy, but it is certainly worth trying.
Sensory Experience and Application
It's somewhat interesting that neither of these products carries the signature scent of Palmer's core range. However, their performance is outstanding, making them a definite yes in my book.
I incorporate a cleansing oil into my makeup removal routine almost daily. I've been using cleansing oils for quite some time and consistently find myself returning to them, unless I'm feeling particularly lazy, which is an occasional occurrence. For me, nothing effectively removes eye makeup quite like a quality cleansing oil.
I use this cleansing oil as part of a double cleansing method. First, I use the oil to lift away surface makeup and impurities. Following that, I use a traditional facial cleanser to thoroughly clean the skin itself. I find this approach to be the most effective for cleansing my skin, and I don't foresee changing this routine anytime soon.
Cleansing Oil Performance Details
I've been using this cleansing oil for several weeks and have grown to really appreciate its texture. It is slightly thicker than some other cleansing oils I've encountered, which I believe works to its advantage, allowing it to penetrate effectively and break down makeup.

Despite its slightly thicker consistency, it rinses clean effortlessly, leaving no residue. My preferred method of removal involves using a hot washcloth. I hold it against my skin for a moment before wiping away the oil, and then repeat the process. This technique has proven incredibly effective at removing all traces of my makeup, including stubborn waterproof mascara.
I gently apply the oil to my fingertips and lightly massage it over my lashes to break down the mascara, and it performs this task exceptionally well.
Recommendation and Considerations
Would I recommend this product? Absolutely! If you have a strong aversion to rose scents, this might not be the first product I'd suggest you rush out to try. However, for me, this has undoubtedly been the most effective cleansing oil I've found at a drugstore price point, with convenient availability - factors that are quite important to me.
The combination of cocoa butter and vitamin C ensures a perfectly clean complexion without stripping the skin. This results in softer, brighter-looking skin. While some individuals might find the scent not to their liking, I personally find myself enjoying the sensory experience now.
