John Doe: The Corrupted Robloxian in FORSAKEN

The defunct code of the early days of Roblox courses through their body, consuming his mind as he now focuses on one thing: to kill everyone in his path. John Doe is one of the seven playable Killers in FORSAKEN, available for purchase at 1,000 Player Points (discounted to 318 on March 18th).

John Doe in FORSAKEN is based on the second account to join Roblox, created in 2005 as a test account by Roblox CEO David Baszucki. Despite the simple origin, the account became the center of a well-known Roblox urban legend claiming he and Jane Doe would return to destroy Roblox on March 18, 2017.

Lore and Transformation

In FORSAKEN lore, John Doe was the husband of Jane Doe and a former Roblox employee. He became corrupted after being fused with fragments of Roblox’s old, defunct code. The mutation drastically altered his body, forming claws, spreading black corrupted code across his torso, and causing his right eye to glow red and glitch with binary patterns. Sustained by this corruption, he is programmed to exterminate all Survivors, including his wife.

Pre-Corruption Appearance

Pre-Forsakened John Doe wears clothes and glasses. John Doe's left and right arm alongside his eye changes to have less corruption. He wears blue pants and a white button-up shirt with black buttons as well as two pens in his shirt pocket. He bears what looks like a smile combined with a traumatized face. This is right after getting corrupted by the unstable code.

Corrupted Appearance

John Doe appears as a light-skinned Robloxian with a yellow torso to represent a shirt and blue legs to represent pants with a deformed right arm shaped in a spike. Red binary code seeps off the deformed limb, and he has a glowing red right eye with a black substance around it, as well as having his spine protruding from his back, leaving it visible. His left arm also has the same black substance on it, forming three claws with red binary code seeping off of it. John Doe's legs are also marginally covered in corruption.

Gameplay Mechanics and Playstyle

John Doe is a Setup/Trapper Killer and generally considered to be the most technical killer with the highest skill ceiling in the game. His playstyle centers on trapping and cornering Survivors to eliminate them efficiently. Unlike most killers, his abilities are rarely used to kill directly. Instead, they restrict Survivors' movement and force them into vulnerable positions where he can finish them off with his primary attack, which has the highest base damage in game. Mastering his kit requires patience, prediction, and a strong understanding of map layouts and escape routes. Because of this, he is challenging to play effectively for inexperienced players, but those with strong game sense and strategic awareness find him extremely rewarding.

Abilities

  • Passive Ability (Unnamed): While John Doe moves around the map, a trail of corruption follows him and closes in as he moves. If John Doe is Stunned while activating Corrupt Energy or 404 ERROR, the stun duration is capped at 2 seconds. When the stun ends, John Doe lets out a loud roar and gains Speed I for 3 seconds. This duration increases by 1 second for every Sentinel currently alive.
  • Primary Attack (Slash): John Doe raises his arm and slashes down in front of him with his claws.
  • Corrupt Energy: John Doe punches his corrupted arm into the ground and, when he pulls it out, a wall of spikes emerge in front of him.
  • Digital Footprint: John Doe stomps on the ground three times, with the third summoning a large shadow beneath him, functioning as a trap. On March 18th, the maximum number of footprints that can be active at one time is increased to 5. John Doe is heavily slowed down while using 404 Error.

Map Dependency

John Doe is dependent on maps because it is more difficult to trap survivors in open maps like Planet Voss. This is because in large maps with low density there are more escape routes, increased line of sight and greater maneuverability which significantly reduces the probability of successful entrapment of survivors. In dense maps like Horror Hotel and Bloodfell Manor, the spatial configuration results in John Doe has more environmental control and can efficiently contain survivors within an small / dense enclosed area which makes it easier to properly corner and eliminate the target. The topology and structure of the environment affects the efficiency of his playstyle.

Speed and Damage

While he does have the fastest walkspeed, he has the second slowest sprint speed in the game, traveling only 27.25 studs when sprinting. However, the successful usage of his abilities give him a speed boost for a reasonable amount of time, which allows him to catch up to survivors. John Doe can 3 shot survivors with 84 HP (such as Two Time and Elliot) with his Slash.

Relationships and Lore Connections

John Doe and his wife, Jane Doe, were happily married, though they had notable differences in personality. John Doe enjoyed socializing and often encouraged his wife to attend gatherings, while Jane Doe usually kept to herself outside of work. Jane Doe had an intense drive for answers that often clouded her judgment, whereas John Doe was the opposite, easygoing and lacking strong personal ambition.

At work, both were employed at Roblox Headquarters, serving the Roblox admins and assigned to test faulty code, though in different roles. In Milestone I, John Doe's office worker appearance remains mostly visible beneath the growing corruption. By Milestone IV, John Doe is completely engulfed by the corruption, and his office worker appearance is essentially obscured.

On March 18, 2017, under unknown circumstances, John Doe became corrupted by a highly destructive and dangerous parasite composed of faulty, defunct code from Roblox's early days. The parasite spread its code throughout his body, severely mutilating him and transforming him into the monstrous state he now inhabits. It is alive and behaves in its own strange way, actively destroying John Doe's identity and memories by siphoning them into its own "mind," ultimately causing him to forget his wife. The corruption is permanent, as removing it would result in his death.

Ever since that day, rumors have spread about what truly happened. Some believe his wife was responsible for his disappearance, while others think John Doe is plotting a return to take over Robloxia.
