Piney Point Dermatology: Expert Care for Your Skin

Medical and cosmetic skincare is provided by practitioners with a wide range of qualifications and experience. Board Certified Dermatologists possess the highest level of dermatologic qualification. They are medical doctors who have completed four years of medical school, a one-year internship, and a three-year residency in dermatology. This extensive training is followed by a rigorous examination to achieve Board certification from the American Board of Dermatology.

The distinction in qualifications can be significant, given that there are over 3,000 conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails. These conditions can be challenging to identify, differentiate, and treat. While some are benign and resolve on their own, others can be chronic or even life-threatening. Dermatologic-specific training offers a crucial advantage in accurately diagnosing and treating skin issues, including the early detection of serious conditions. Furthermore, features that manifest on the skin can sometimes be indicators of underlying internal medical problems, making their recognition particularly important.

The Practice of Dr. Jessica Parsons

Dr. Parsons' medical practice is guided by core principles of respect for every individual, integrity, and authenticity. She is committed to treating every patient with the same care and consideration she would offer a family member. Dr. Parsons genuinely values the opportunity to build relationships with her patients and appreciates the return to a more traditional practice setting that allows for more in-depth patient interaction. She has observed how changes in healthcare have shifted the focus away from the doctor-patient relationship, often moving away from prioritizing the patient's best interests.

Jessica Parsons graduated with honors in Genetics and French from the University of California. Dr. Parsons began her dermatology practice in California at the Bakersfield Dermatology and Skin Cancer Clinic. Subsequently, she and her husband relocated to a suburb of The Hague in The Netherlands, where they resided for four years. During her time in Holland, Dr. Parsons achieved fluency in Dutch and contributed her expertise as a volunteer in the Department of Dermatology at the Leiden University Medical Center. Following their departure from Holland, they established their home in Houston.

Understanding Appointment Fees and Deposits

Fees for services are determined by a combination of the time dedicated to patient care and the medical expertise applied in diagnosing skin problems and formulating treatment plans. The appointment times allocated for patients are significantly longer than average.

A standard appointment for a single-issue consultation or a visit where an additional concern arises typically involves 15-20 minutes of direct physician time. For a comprehensive in-office examination for skin cancer and moles, the appointment generally lasts between 20-30 minutes.

New patients are required to provide a $60 deposit when scheduling an appointment. This deposit will be credited towards the final cost of the visit. Please note that an additional charge will be applied by the pathology laboratory for any specimens submitted for examination.
